Self publishing my own book has been by far the biggest challenge I have faced in recent years. Or so I thought. I naively thought it would then be on the bookshelves, so once written I was faced with an even bigger challenge and that was to market the book! This first book lead me to a more recent passion. And dare I say this challenge has become a vocation and that is to rethink how crochet is taught and learned. I am devising methods which are very untraditional, I have made tutorials, taught a beginners class and the results … Continue reading Write about a challenge you faced and overcame
Vanessa Barragao This is the lady who has given me so much inspiration. Her work is absolutely sensational. She works on canvas and she uses a latch hook and includes crochet in her designs too. So why am I inspired? Imagine if children in schools were taught crochet art. Imagine if they were able to work on canvas too. Imagine if their designs included a mix of crochet and latch hooking and crochet. Then one day they may be inspired by this wonderful artist too. I am inspired to carry on my passion to get crochet art into schools. Continue reading Who is someone that inspired you and why?

I am posting an answer to this question as part of the Bloganuary Challenge. I will posting every day in January. Maybe you can let me know your answer too ! For me it was when I had my first Easy Crochet exhibition at the Yarndale Wool Fair in Skipton last September. I was well out of my comfort zone, surrounded by traditional crochet organisers. I was imagining that it was difficult for some idealists to embrace my controversial ideas. Who was I to announce that this was THE new way to learn how to crochet? At least this is … Continue reading When did you last leave your comfort zone?Yarndale

In the Uk we are trying to get back to some kind of normal. My first class has now had three sessions at the Severn Hospice with some lovely ladies who are absolute crochet beginners. They are following the new idea of just using two stitches to make things. These are chain and slip stitch, although some have snook in the bullion stitch too because it is such a fun stitch to do and has so much texture. We are having great fun experimenting with this way forward and I love how they surprise me with their work! Continue reading Beginners Class Telford

fb.watch/25GZI5Nwve/ I am returning to this post to say a little bit more about this recent link. I don’t know if you are getting fed up with lockdown, but in a tragic way crochet and making these videos has been quite quite therapeutic for me. I will try to keep it short, but last october my hubby Phil suffered a serious head injury and was in hospital for two months. I had great support from family and wonderful friends and life was sometimes just bearable for us both. So I get a bit emotional when watching this video as Phil … Continue reading About this new method..watch the video
